Outbound email worked better than job applications
I finally got my first reply from a job search campaign after reaching out to 38 people.
It turns out the person who replied was the first one to receive the second message in the sequence. Everyone else has only received the first one so far.
This is literally the first human being I've heard back from after applying cold to an open role. I had a handful of warm intros through people I knew, but those didn't end up going anywhere.
I spent probably a good month manually submitting job applications, then put even more work into automating the process. After all of that, this outbound campaign is what finally got a response.
I'm pretty convinced outbound email is the way to search for a job right now.
Ironically, I'm not even that interested in finding a job anymore. I have some client work keeping me busy, and I think I'm gonna keep going down that path.
But it feels good to have cracked the code on getting a reply.
