Working in Codex Is Surprisingly Satisfying

I saw someone ask if it was satisfying to do 90% of your work in Claude Code.

At this point I do basically 100% of my work in Codex. And honestly, it’s much more satisfying than I expected.

It’s also more intellectually challenging. I feel a little more like I did when I was in school, reading textbooks and doing math and actually having to push myself mentally.

When you work through websites, whether that’s social media or some SaaS tool, you don’t realize how much the interface is constantly trying to steal your focus. There’s something very pure about working in a mostly monochrome interface and just reading text. I read a lot more than I used to.

The challenge has changed too. It feels a little like what I imagine playing multiple games of chess at the same time would feel like. I’m keeping track of a bunch of different threads of work, figuring out where my attention is needed, and deciding what to hand off next.

It’s a very different kind of challenge, but I find it extremely satisfying.
